Paulo Susa: 'Basel had a perfect evening against Liverpool'

Basel manager Paulo Sousa claims that his side's 1-0 defeat of Liverpool in the Champions League made for "a perfect evening".

Basel manager Paulo Sousa has praised his side's display after the Swiss giants defeated Liverpool 1-0 in tonight's Champions League clash at St Jakob-Park.

A solitary goal by Marco Streller, following a lapse in concentration by the Reds defence, was enough to give the Super League champions the win.

Sousa told reporters after the game: "It was a perfect evening.

"We defended well, we fought, were ambitious, have created chances and kept the ball well."

Basel climb to second in Group B, while Liverpool slip to third.
