Bayern Munich 2-1 Borussia Dortmund

Bayern Munich beat German champions Borussia Dortmund 2-1 in the Super Cup final at the Allianz Arena.

Bayern Munich ran out 2-1 winners against Bundesliga champions Borussia Dortmund in the Super Cup final.

Germany's traditional curtain raiser to the football season made a bright start, with new signing Mario Mandzukic opening the scoring for Bayern after six minutes.

Munich doubled their advantage just five minutes later, Tomas Muller netting a rebound after Arjen Robben's chip hit the woodwork.

Dortmund recovered from a sluggish first-half performance to rally late on, with Mario Gotze and Marco Reus combining to set up Robert Lewandowski to score with 15 minutes remaining.

Bayern survived to earn the victory despite a late penalty appeal against Philipp Lahm.
