Blackburn Rovers caretaker manager Eric Black has hailed Harry Redknapp as an "exceptional manager".

Black's praise of Redknapp comes after the former Tottenham Hotspur boss was linked with the vacant managerial post at Ewood Park, and Black believes that it would be a "sensational appointment" for Blackburn if Redknapp were to join the club.

"Harry is a top manager, right up there in the top echelons. It would be a sensational appointment for Blackburn Rovers," he said.

"Harry has proved it over the years and he's worked at the highest level – what he sees as a challenge or deems to be a positive is up to him.

"But he's certainly an exceptional manager. He's top, top quality candidate."

Blackburn are currently in fifth place in the Championship table.
