Paul Lambert delighted with win after below-par display

Blackburn Rovers boss Paul Lambert admits that he was delighted with his side's 1-0 win against Rotherham United after what he considered a below-par display.

Blackburn Rovers manager Paul Lambert has revealed that he was encouraged to see his side beat Rotherham United on Friday night without producing one of their better performances.

An own goal from Luke Hyam gifted Rovers the three points at Ewood Park to extend the club's unbeaten record to seven games, but while Lambert was delighted to secure the win, he admitted that he expected more from his players.

The 46-year-old is quoted by BBC Sport as saying: "It wasn't a great game and Rotherham made it difficult as I knew they would.

"They're a hard team to play against. All credit to our team. If you can't play as well as you normally play and you see a game through, it's a great trait to have.

"From our point of view, I'm delighted. Performance-wise, we are so much better than that but you have to give Rotherham credit."

The win has moved Blackburn into 12th position in the Championship standings.
