Manager Chris Hughton says that the onus is on Brighton & Hove Albion to secure Premier League survival, rather than rely on the results of other clubs.

Manager Chris Hughton has called on his Brighton & Hove Albion side to take away any doubt regarding their status in the Premier League.

With three matches remaining, Brighton sit five points above the bottom three but the Seagulls still have to play Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool.

One positive result is likely to be enough to secure safety in the top flight, and Hughton has acknowledged that the south coast outfit must try to focus on themselves during the final nine days of the season.

The 59-year-old is quoted by Sky Sports News as saying: "You look at them and who the others are playing, and the league table, but you are also very conscious that ultimately it doesn't make any difference.

"You can look and think all you want but there isn't anybody who can tell me what the results are going to be. I certainly don't know. What it does is put the emphasis on us and we have an opportunity on Friday to do ourselves a big favour. If that's not the case then, of course, it is about the next game."

Brighton head into Friday's match with United without success in their last seven fixtures in all competitions.
