Sean Dyche hails "hard-fought" Burnley win at Everton

Burnley manager Sean Dyche is delighted with his side claiming a "hard-fought" 1-0 win over Everton in Sunday's Premier League encounter at Goodison Park.

Burnley manager Sean Dyche has hailed his side's "hard-fought" 1-0 win over Everton in Sunday's Premier League encounter at Goodison Park.

Jeff Hendrick's 21st-minute strike was enough to give the visiting Clarets their first win at the Toffees' stadium since 1976.

"It was really hard-fought," Dyche told BBC Sport. "There was a good mixture today. It was a fantastic goal with a lot of passes and then real earthy, nitty-gritty defending.

"The second half got trickier and we broke on two or three occasions but never found the final pass. The first half was really good performance of mixed football.

"I don't think [goalkeeper Nick Pope] has had anything major to do. The defensive unit work very hard. I believe in it and they believe in the work they do.

"A lot of things are coming together. Last year the margins were really tight and now we are getting on the right side of those margins."

The result sees Burnley climb to sixth in the Premier League table.
