Brendan Rodgers is pleased with his Celtic players for their performance in Sunday's 5-0 win over Rangers which secured a seventh consecutive Scottish Premiership title.

Brendan Rodgers has praised his Celtic players for their "outstanding" performance in the 5-0 win over Rangers which secured a seventh consecutive Scottish Premiership title.

The Hoops surged into a three-goal lead at half time courtesy of an Odsonne Edouard brace and a James Forrest strike.

Tom Rogic then added a fourth early in the second half before Callum McGregor wrapped up the five-goal victory shortly afterwards.

"I think what was really pleasing was the performance today under the pressure," Rodgers told Sky Sports News at the end of Sunday's game at Parkhead.

"Obviously it was a really emotional day in terms of it being a Celtic-Rangers game but to play that way with that intensity and aggression was very pleasing. You have to play football and today we did the basics of the game really well.

"I thought we were outstanding, we could have had more goals, but it was an absolutely outstanding performance and I'm delighted for the supporters. It is a great day for them and it is another title which is important."

Celtic stand on the brink of a second consecutive domestic treble, as Motherwell - their vanquished Scottish League Cup final opponents - await in the Scottish Cup final on May 19.
