Petr Cech eyes Chelsea's clean sheets record

Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech hopes that he can level the club record of 208 clean sheets against Liverpool.

Petr Cech has said that it would be "fantastic" to match Chelsea's club record for clean sheets.

The Czech international is one goalless game away from matching Peter Bonetti's record of 208.

The 31-year-old told the club's official website: "It has been a long journey since I came to the Premier League and it has been not even 10 years to get that many Premier League clean sheets.

"It is a great milestone for a goalkeeper and I am one clean sheet away from Peter Bonetti's all-time record and it would obviously be fantastic to get that in the Liverpool game.

"You need everybody to do as much as possible to defend and not give away cheap goals because as the fatigue accumulates in this hectic period it becomes more difficult to find the energy to overturn games, so when you get the lead and keep a clean sheet it is more easy to win a game."

Liverpool, who face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge tomorrow, have scored in all but one of their Premier League matches so far this season.
