Gus Poyet out to prove Chelsea are not invincible

Gus Poyet says that he will be out to prove that Chelsea are not invincible as his Sunderland side look to end the Blues' 18-game unbeaten run this season.

Gus Poyet is optimistic that his Sunderland side can bring Chelsea's unbeaten run to an abrupt stop on Saturday.

The Premier League leaders are yet to lose any of their 12 outings so far this season, with the Blues tipped to emulate Arsenal's 'Invincibles' of the 2003-04 campaign.

However, the Black Cats know what it takes to beat Jose Mourinho's side after earning a 2-1 win at Stamford Bridge last term, and Poyet hopes that his troops can repeat that feat at the Stadium of Light this weekend.

"I think from now until the end of the season, everyone is going to try to be the one who beats Chelsea first," he told reporters. "Now it's our opportunity and let's see if we can take it.

"We need to be spot-on – don't make any mistakes, be good, organised and be brave on the ball so you're not defending all the time.

"There are plenty of things that we need to do really well on the day. But we've done it in the past, so hopefully we can do it again."

The West Londoners' unbeaten run currently stands at 18 in all competitions, having also avoided defeat in their six Champions League and Capital One Cup outings this season.
