Chelsea head coach Antonio Conte says that any plans for the January transfer window will remain "private" as he considers ways to strengthen his first-team squad.

Chelsea head coach Antonio Conte has suggested that discussions are yet to take place over his transfer plans for the January window.

With Premier League leaders Manchester City having moved clear of the chasing pack, their rivals are under pressure to make improvements at the start of 2018, including the Blues who endured a mixed summer window.

However, while likely to be keen on adding to his squad, Conte has refused to be drawn on any potential incomings or outgoings at Stamford Bridge.

The 48-year-old told reporters: "I think about this topic but it is better if my club ask me what I need to catch them up and then I will answer, but in a private way.

"We are in November and now we have to fight with this squad and I want to repeat that I am very happy to work with these players and try to do our best [this season].

"If one day the club try to ask me something about this topic, I can give my opinion but at the same time I am very happy to work for this club with these players. The club knows very well we are trying to build something important for the present and for the future."

Defender David Luiz has been linked with a switch to Real Madrid after falling down the pecking order in West London.
