Chelsea, Manchester City 'plotting January bids for Wilfried Bony'

Manchester City and Chelsea sent representatives to watch over Wilfried Bony during Swansea City's recent meeting with Liverpool, according to a report.

Premier League title rivals Manchester City and Chelsea are reportedly fighting it out for the January signing of Swansea City striker Wilfried Bony.

Representatives from both clubs are said to have been sent to Anfield on Monday night to carefully watch the Ivorian striker in action as the Swans fell to a 4-1 defeat against Liverpool.

The Daily Mail claims that City's director of football Txiki Begiristain and head scout Gary Worthington were both in attendance, while Chelsea's European scout Mick Doherty also watched on.

It is thought that Swansea will not sell Bony for anything less than £30m, although that has not stopped the champions reportedly making an enquiry over the star striker's availability.

Bony, who joined the Welsh outfit from Vitesse in 2013, has scored 20 goals in the Premier League this calendar year - more than any other player in the division.
