Chelsea planning move for AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma next summer?

Chelsea are reportedly still interested in Gianluigi Donnarumma and could move for the AC Milan goalkeeper when his contract expires at the end of the season.

Chelsea are reportedly still interested in signing Gianluigi Donnarumma and could make a move for the AC Milan goalkeeper next summer.

The Blues were linked with the Italy international during the recent transfer window as they searched for a replacement number one for Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Frank Lampard's side are understood to have made contact with Donnarumma before ultimately signing Edouard Mendy from Rennes instead.

However, Calciomercato reports that Chelsea still retain an interest in the 21-year-old and could return for him next summer, when his contract is currently due to expire.

AC Milan are keen to keep hold of their vice-captain and are currently in talks over an extension, but the two parties remain at odds over wages.

The report claims that Milan are confident Donnarumma wants to stay, having already made 209 first-team appearances for the club since breaking into the side at the age of just 16.

However, a number of Europe's top teams including Real Madrid, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain are ready to rival Chelsea for his signature should he become available on a free transfer.

Donnarumma will be free to discuss terms with foreign clubs when he enters the final six months of his deal in January.
