Chelsea sent scouts to watch AC Milan centre-back Alessio Romagnoli in Sunday night's Milan derby, according to a report.

Chelsea reportedly sent scouts to watch AC Milan centre-back Alessio Romagnoli in Sunday night's Milan derby.

Romagnoli, 23, passed a late fitness test to start for Milan and impressed for the Italian giants despite his team suffering a 1-0 defeat to their bitter rivals.

According to Calciomercato, Chelsea had scouts in attendance to watch the central defender as the Premier League giants continue a summer swoop for the Italy international.

Romagnoli, who has also previously been linked with Manchester United, joined Milan from Roma in 2015 and has made 120 appearances in all competitions for the San Siro giants.

Chelsea's reported interest places more uncertainty on the futures of Andreas Christensen and Gary Cahill, with the pair currently being strongly linked with moves away from Stamford Bridge.
