Lyon forward Memphis Depay criticises comments attributed to him earlier this week, which suggested that he was keen to leave his current team for a bigger club.

Lyon forward Memphis Depay has claimed that comments attributed to him earlier this week have been taken out of context.

Depay - formerly of Manchester United - has enjoyed a productive spell at Lyon with a total of 33 goals coming from 93 appearances in all competitions, and the Netherlands international has been quoted as saying that he wishes to join a bigger club.

Manchester City, Chelsea and Real Madrid were all mentioned by the 24-year-old, but the attacker has insisted that the comments - which he claims have been altered - were a small part of an interview earlier this season.

Depay said on social media: "The blogs and several websites just take a short quote out a big interview I did with Helden Magazine 2 MONTHS AGO! and make it look bad so and change my words, but once again if you been in this football industry for a while you will know."

The forward still has two-and-a-half years remaining on his contract.
