Both Newcastle United and Leicester City are in the race to sign Everton full-back Lucas Digne, according to a report.

Both Newcastle United and Leicester City have entered the race to sign Everton defender Lucas Digne, according to a report.

The full-back has been left out of the previous two matchday squads, and he has been heavily linked with a move away from Goodison Park in January.

A rift between him and Rafael Benitez over tactics has been reported, and a transfer to another club could be needed in order for the 28-year-old to get game time.

According to The Mirror, Newcastle and Leicester are both interested in signing the Frenchman next month in a bid to bolster their defensive options.

They are not the only teams hoping to sign the experienced full-back though, as Chelsea have been linked with him following Ben Chilwell's injury, while Crystal Palace are also keeping tabs on the situation.

Everton will next be in action on Boxing Day when they travel to face Burnley, but it remains to be seen whether or not Digne will play for the first time since the Merseyside derby at the start of the month.
