Marcos Alonso is reportedly open to penning a new contract with Chelsea, having been an important player for Thomas Tuchel following the manager's arrival at Stamford Bridge.
The Spaniard appeared to be on his way out of the Blues due to his struggles for action under Frank Lampard, with the 30-year-old only making three Premier League outings under the Englishman during the 2020-21 season.
Alonso has featured in five of Chelsea's six league games under Tuchel, though, and now looks to be ahead of Ben Chilwell in the pecking order for the left-sided wing-back position.
According to The Sun, the defender is keen to pen a new deal with the London giants as he appears to be an important part of the new manager's plans moving forward.
Alonso's existing deal in the capital is due to expire in June 2023, but the former Real Madrid youngster is said to be looking for an extension until the end of the 2023-24 campaign.
Chelsea are next in action against Atletico Madrid in the first leg of their last-16 Champions League tie on Tuesday night, with the clash due to take place in Romania.
