Mark Sampson extends England contract

Mark Sampson agrees a new deal with the Football Association that will see him lead England Women into the 2019 World Cup.

England Women's head coach Mark Sampson has signed a new deal with the Football Association.

The 33-year-old's previous deal had been due to expire next year.

However, having agreed to extend his contract by a further two years, Sampson will now lead England into the 2019 World Cup.

"I am delighted to have agreed to continue working with the Lionesses through to the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup," he said in a statement.

"It is an honour and a privilege to manage such a fantastic group of people who represent their country with incredible pride and passion."

Under Sampson's guidance, England finished third at last year's World Cup.
