England's Steven Gerrard: 'No reaction from players over Greg Dyke's speech'

England captain Steven Gerrard says that he and his teammates have not been affected by the comments made by FA chairman Greg Dyke.

England captain Steven Gerrard has claimed that not one of the players within the national setup is focused on FA chairman Greg Dyke's assessment of the English game.

Dyke criticised the current status of England, claiming that there are too many foreign players within the Premier League, which he believes is stifling the development of the national game.

Despite his words, Gerrard has insisted that the Three Lions are solely focused on their upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Moldova and Ukraine.

"There hasn't been a reaction," Gerrard said in a press conference. "None of the players are talking about what Greg said. They're all focused on getting the six points from these two games.

"We're focused on a strong performance. It won't be on proving any individuals wrong. I think the quality in the squad is fantastic and we're all in confident mood."

Gerrard's Liverpool teammate Daniel Sturridge has been ruled out of tomorrow's game, resulting in Southampton striker Rickie Lambert being handed a starting spot.
