England boss Gareth Southgate says that there will be an "element of experimentation" with his tactics for the games with Germany and Brazil.

England boss Gareth Southgate has admitted that he intends to 'experiment' with both tactics and players during the friendly internationals with Germany and Brazil.

Southgate had already included a number of newcomers in his group of players for the Wembley double-header, but as many as six withdrawals have increased the possibility of debuts being handed against the two multiple-time world champions.

However, Southgate has indicated that he is happy to use new strategies ahead of next year's World Cup, while highlighting Germany's success at this summer's Confederations Cup as a reason to take opportunities to try to develop the team.

The 44-year-old told reporters: "This period between qualification and the finals has to have an element of experimentation. If we don't try things in these games, when are we going to try things?

"Germany took a really young team to the Confederations Cup- I thought it was brilliant what they did. That's how they work. They're brave enough to take decisions that might get them results, but might not."

Midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek will reportedly be handed his debut for the game against Germany on Friday.
