Zinedine Zidane has claimed that Euro 2016 hosts France can go far in the tournament thanks to home advantage.
Les Bleus will kick off a month-long festival of European football in Paris on Friday as they take on Group A opponents Romania at the Stade de France.
Zidane, who won the 1998 World Cup and Euro 2000 with his country, told reporters in India: "This team is a very good team, so I expect them to do well in the competition. I hope they win, but even if they do not win, they have to do well in the competition.
"I faced the exact same experience in 1998. The fact of having the cup in Paris and in France is a great support for the French team, being in their own country with all the fans, the supporters and the good energy."
After Romania, Didier Deschamps's charges will face Albania and Switzerland in their remaining group stage matches.
