Scottish League One roundup: Leaders Stranraer beaten by Brechin City

Sports Mole rounds up all the action from Scottish League One where leaders Stranraer were beaten by Brechin City.

Scottish League One leaders Stranraer lost ground at the top of the table after a brace from Craig Wighton gave Brechin City a 2-0 win at Stair Park.

However, second-placed Greenock Morton failed to fully capitalise as they were held by ninth-placed Ayr United.

Ayr went ahead through Morgyn Neill before Morton favourite Peter MacDonald rescued a draw with a goal on his second debut for the club that cuts Stranraer's lead to four points.

Danny Denholm's late strike was enough to give Forfar Athletic a 1-0 win over Stenhousemuir that keeps alive their title hopes, while Peterhead beat bottom side Stirling Albion 2-1 thanks to goals from Rory McAllister and Jamie Stevenson.

Elsewhere there were goals galore at East End Park as Dunfermline Athletic were held to a 2-2 draw by Airdrieonians.

Results in full: Ayr United 1-1 Greenock Morton, Dunfermline Athletic 2-2 Airdrieonians, Forfar Athletic 1-0 Stenhousemuir, Peterhead 2-1 Stirling Albion, Stranraer 0-2 Brechin City.
