Chris Powell expects instant Emyr Huws impact

Huddersfield Town manager Chris Powell heaps praise on "stylish midfielder" Emyr Huws, who is in line for his first Terriers start later this week.

Chris Powell has revealed that Emyr Huws could be handed his first Huddersfield Town start in the midweek trip to Charlton Athletic.

The on-loan Wigan Athletic midfielder was brought off the bench for his Latics debut in the 2-0 defeat at Cardiff City last time out.

An injury picked up by Jonathan Hogg in that one has now increased Huws' chances of featuring from the off at The Valley, and Powell insists that the Welshman has the quality to make a difference for his new side.

"We were looking more at Emyr for the Charlton game," he is quoted as saying by The Huddersfield Daily Examiner. "However, needs must and we felt it would be good to get him on the pitch.

"He is a player I have always admired. He is a stylish midfielder who looks to get the team going forward. He looks to pass creatively and he has also got a very good strike on him.

"I feel sure we will get some really top-quality performances out of him and, hopefully, he will do very well for us and help us start picking up some points."

Huws made 16 appearances for Wigan in all competitions last season, while also representing Wales on two occasions.
