Huddersfield Town bring in Tom Ince from Derby County

Huddersfield Town sign Tom Ince from Derby County on a three-year contract, with the option to extend it by a further 12 months.

Premier League new boys Huddersfield Town have completed the signing of Tom Ince from Derby County in a deal reported to be worth up to £11m.

The 25-year-old has put pen to paper on a contract that runs until the summer of 2020, while the Terriers have the option of extending that by a further year.

Ince recently emerged as a target for last season's Championship playoff final winners, but Town are said to have had an opening offer of £7.2m turned down.

David Wagner has now got his man, however - Huddersfield's fifth arrival of the summer, having already twice broken their transfer record.

Speaking to the club's official website, Wagner said: "Everybody in England knows that Tom has high quality; he has been one of the best players in the Sky Bet Championship for many years now. He scores goals, creates them for others and is always a threat when he's on the pitch, so I'm very happy to welcome him to the club today.

"To have played over 250 games at just 25 years old is not normal; it's great experience for a player who still has lots of space to improve.

"I have spoken to Tom and he has a massive desire to come to Huddersfield Town and play in the Premier League. He has had a taste of the division for two short spells and he is desperate to show everyone that he belongs in the top division. I think he can be a big player for us."

Ince has scored 75 goals in his 260 career appearances, 26 of those coming in the Championship during his two-and-a-half years at Pride Park.
