Steve Bruce hopeful of Hull City improvement

Hull City manager Steve Bruce admits that he is hopeful that his side's 1-1 draw at Everton can lead to movement up the Premier League table.

Hull City manager Steve Bruce believes that his side's second-half performance was enough for them to deserve their 1-1 draw at Everton.

Substitute Sone Aluko cancelled out Romelu Lukaku's first-half opener to earn the Tigers their first Premier League point in five games, and despite sitting in 17th place, Bruce is still aiming for a mid-table finish in May.

The 53-year-old told BBC Sport: "In the second half, we were much, much better. There wasn't much between the sides in the first half. After the difficult weekend in Manchester and a difficult month - if anybody was going to win it was us.

"Who knows with the point, we have hopefully stopped the rot. It was the first time that we were in the relegation zone in 18 months.

"It's only our second season up. The Premier League is starting to take shape. We hope we can still finish midway through the division - we have a far better chance than we did last season."

Hull will play host to West Bromwich Albion at the KC Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
