Massimo Allegri: 'Juventus need to be more clinical'

Massimo Allegri says that Juventus wasted too many chances during their 1-0 victory over Chievo.

Juventus manager Massimo Allegri has admitted that his team were not clinical enough during their Serie A victory against Chievo this evening.

The Bianconeri began the defence of their title with a 1-0 win thanks to an early own-goal from keeper Francesco Bardi.

Allegri saw his side hit the woodwork three times and miss a number of chances to add to their lead, and he has said that they need to improve in the final third going forward.

"More than angry I was a bit worried, because after wasting so many chances we risked an equaliser with the only Chievo chance and Buffon made a great save," he told Sky Sport Italia.

"The team played well, though we need to improve our finishing. At this moment the team is working hard, it was important to win the opener ahead of the break for international duty."

Juventus will host Udinese in their next league match on September 14.
