Valeri Bojinov scored a last-minute equaliser as Lecce grabbed a late 1-1 draw with Champions League hopefuls Lazio this afternoon.
The hosts went into the game hoping to tighten their grip on third place in Serie A and came closest to opening the scoring in the opening 45 minutes.
On-loan midfielder Antonio Candreva's attempted cross was miscued and looked to be heading goalwards only to glance the top of the crossbar.
Striker Tommaso Rocchi nearly found a way through after the break but his effort was saved well by Lecce keeper Massimiliano Benassi.
When they did eventually break the deadlock in the 83rd minute courtesy of Matuzalem's header, Lazio must have thought they had snatched victory.
However, former Manchester City striker Bojinov was on hand in stoppage time to equalise and earn Lecce a point.
The draw means Lazio are thre epoints clear of Udinese in third while Lecce move to within a point of Genoa and Serie A safety.
