Jesse March will be looking to extend his winning home run with a new club to four matches when his Leeds United side take on Aston Villa at Elland Road on Thursday.

Jesse Marsch will take charge of his first home game as Leeds United boss when they welcome Aston Villa to Elland Road for Thursday night's Premier League contest.

The 48-year-old suffered defeat in his first game at the helm when the Whites narrowly lost 1-0 away at Leicester City last weekend, in a game they were unfortunate not to claim at least a point from considering their 19 attempts on goal.

Marsch is now focused fully on their midweek clash against Villa, with his Leeds side – currently sitting two points above the relegation zone – seeking to end a run of five straight defeats.

The American boss has an impressive record when taking charge of his first home game with a new club, and on Thursday, he will be looking to extend his winning run to four matches, having previously won his first three fixtures on home soil in charge of New York Red Bulls, Red Bull Salzburg and RB Leipzig.

With both Leipzig and Salzburg, Marsch's men managed to score four goals in both games, with the former beating Stuttgart 4-0 in August 2021 and the latter securing a 4-1 victory against SV Mattersburg in August 2019 – a game in which Erling Braut Haaland was on the scoresheet.

Leeds have failed to win any of their last three home matches against Aston Villa, including two in the Championship, though they will be hoping the arrival of Marsch will provide a much-needed spark as they bid to claim three crucial points on Thursday.
