Liverpool star Adam Lallana is reportedly expected to miss Saturday's Premier League trip to his former club Southampton after picking up a groin injury on international duty.
Eighteen minutes after scoring from the penalty spot, the midfielder was withdrawn from England's 2-2 draw with Spain on Tuesday evening at Wembley.
The player himself indicated that the injury was not serious by giving reporters a thumbs-up in the mixed zone after the international friendly.
However, according to the Liverpool Echo, after the Reds' medical staff assessed Lallana's injury on Wednesday, manager Jurgen Klopp has opted not to risk him at St Mary's.
It is believed that the groin problem is similar to the one that the 28-year-old suffered in Liverpool's 2-1 victory over Swansea City, which kept him out of action for 12 days.
Despite the blow, the Merseyside outfit are hopeful that Lallana will be fit for next weekend's match against Sunderland at Anfield.
Georginio Wijnaldum could replace the midfielder in Saturday's lineup.
