Jordan Henderson: 'Liverpool are ready for Southampton test'

Jordan Henderson believes that Liverpool's 4-0 pre-season victory over Borussia Dortmund shows that the team are ready to face Southampton on Sunday.

Jordan Henderson has insisted that he and his Liverpool teammates are ready for the "real test" against Southampton this weekend after concluding their pre-season fixtures.

The Merseyside outfit played eight warm-up games ahead of the new season, the most recent being a convincing 4-0 victory over Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund at Anfield yesterday.

Henderson, who got on the scoresheet on Sunday, believes that facing the likes of Roma, Olympiacos, Manchester City, AC Milan and Manchester United in pre-season leaves the Reds in good stead.

"It was a good way to end pre-season and get ready for next week," Henderson told the club's official website. "Everybody is happy and hopefully we can continue that going into the game against Southampton.

"Most of our games in pre-season have been against top opposition, Champions League teams. Now we're ready for the real test next week."

New signing Dejan Lovren managed to score on his Anfield debut yesterday, while Daniel Sturridge and Philippe Coutinho also found the back of the net.
