Jurgen Klopp has declared himself happy with Liverpool's goalless draw at Everton but admitted that his side were disappointing in the last 20 minutes.

The Reds held their Merseyside rivals at bay in a subdued first half, though Loris Karius had to be called upon to pull off a superb save from Yannick Bolasie.

In the second period, Danny Ings and Seamus Coleman briefly clashed, while Liverpool found themselves under siege in the latter stages but managed to hold on to a point at Goodison Park.

When asked by Sky Sports News if he was happy with the result, Klopp replied: "Absolutely. We controlled the game for around 60 minutes, then everything got a bit emotional. In those times we have to control the game, but we didn't.

"At the end there were two crosses that were close, so I am completely fine with the result. Clean sheet, good defending, but last 20 minutes, we need to play and we didn't do that.

"[Liverpool's second-half capitulation] is completely normal, until then it was not the game the people wanted, but that was not our job to do that, not our 1A solution but our 1B and we take that.

"Very important result so let's carry on, another point away, not a long drive home, so now we prepare for the next game."

The draw meant that Liverpool missed the chance to move above Manchester United into second.
