Liverpool winger Sadio Mane admits that he was "scared" of a Man City comeback, but believes that his side deserved their 4-3 win over the Premier League leaders.

Liverpool winger Sadio Mane has claimed that his side deserved their thrilling 4-3 win over Manchester City at Anfield this afternoon.

City saw a 30-game Premier League unbeaten streak come to an end on Merseyside as Liverpool inflicted a first defeat of the season on Pep Guardiola's side, thanks largely to a spell of eight second-half minutes during which Liverpool scored three goals.

The league leaders almost pulled off a remarkable comeback with two late goals to set up a grandstand finale, but Liverpool held out for a win which takes them up to third in the Premier League table.

"The points were the main target and we got it. A great performance from beginning to end," he told Sky Sports News.

"My left foot is always better than my right. It was not easy because if you score four and they come back to 4-3 you are scared but we worked like a team and we deserved to win."

The win extends Liverpool's unbeaten run to 18 games across all competitions and 19 at Anfield.
