Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino reiterates his praise for the "brave" officials who awarded his side two controversial penalties in their 2-2 draw at Anfield.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has reiterated his praise for the officials during his side's incident-packed 2-2 draw with Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.

Spurs eventually came away with a point from Merseyside, but only after a frantic ending which saw three late goals and two controversial penalties awarded to the visitors.

Referee Jon Moss discussed both decisions with his linesman before awarding the spot kicks - one of which was missed and one of which was scored by Harry Kane - and Pochettino believes that the officials got both calls correct.

"I think everyone can see both situations that the referee and assistant were right. I think in both cases they were right," he told reporters.

"When the rule was settled it was difficult to understand. When the ball is going to Harry, he is offside. But when the rule changed you need to accept the rule change - if you want to play the ball and you touch the ball, it's onside and it's not offside.

"I think it's clear - [Dejan] Lovren touched the ball, [Kane is] onside and then [Virgil] van Dijk kicked [Erik] Lamela, it's a penalty. If you watch the action it's so clear. The referee's so brave and so right. I'm happy because the decision was for us, they were good and they were right."

Spurs are back in action again on Wednesday night when they host League Two Newport County in an FA Cup replay.
