Benfica are reportedly ready to join the race to sign Liverpool defender Alberto Moreno on a free transfer.

Liverpool defender Alberto Moreno has reportedly emerged as a transfer target for Benfica.

Moreno is nearing the end of his fifth campaign at Anfield, but the left-back will leave the Merseyside giants on a free transfer in the summer.

According to A Bola, Benfica are ready to enter the race for the signature of the Spaniard, who has also been linked with a move to Barcelona and Lazio.

The report claims that the Portuguese giants could bring in the 26-year-old as a replacement for Alex Grimaldo, who is attracting interest from a number of high-profile European clubs.

Moreno has barely featured for Liverpool this season, with just four appearances being made in all competitions.
