Bruno Genesio hints that he is resigned to losing in-demand attacker Nabil Fekir, who was on the verge of joining Liverpool last month.

Lyon manager Bruno Genesio has conceded that the club are still at risk of losing star man Nabil Fekir before the transfer window closes for business.

The France international was on the verge of joining Liverpool in a £60m deal last month, only for a move to break down at the eleventh hour as the Reds wanted to renegotiate his fee.

Speculation linking Fekir with a switch to Anfield has refused to go away, though, while Real Madrid and Manchester United have also been credited with showing an interest.

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday afternoon, Genesio accepted that the 24-year-old may yet move on if the opportunity to do so arises.

"He wanted to leave to go on a bigger club than Lyon and he had that opportunity with Liverpool," he said. "But knowing the situation today, I think he considers all the solutions.

"If he has an offer from a very big European club, of course he will chase the opportunity. But once again the clubs have to get along, because there are always three parties in this negotiation.

"Having said that, I think that if the situation has to remain the way it is, well he is in Lyon, he is our captain, he plays in the Champions League, he is decisive. Despite his injury he played his best this season for me so the situation isn't terrible."

Fekir has featured from the bench in all four of France's World Cup games in Russia.
