Liverpool chief Michael Edwards is reportedly refusing to give in to Georginio Wijnaldum's contract demands, and an exit from Anfield this summer is now inevitable.

Liverpool are reportedly refusing to cave in to Georginio Wijnaldum's contract demands as the clocks ticks on his time with the Premier League champions.

The former Newcastle United man now has just over two months left to run on his existing deal with Jurgen Klopp's team, and talks over a renewal are yet to bear fruit.

Wijnaldum continues to make the starting lineup week in week out despite the ongoing saga, and the Netherlands international supposedly believes that his standing at the club should be reflected in any proposed new deal.

However, the Liverpool Echo reports that sporting director Michael Edwards is reluctant to bump up Wijnaldum's £90k-a-week wages due to the fact that he will turn 32 next year, and they do not want to risk handing out a lucrative deal should the midfielder's ability then decline.

As a result, the report adds that Wijnaldum's exit from the club is seemingly all but guaranteed, although a possible move to Barcelona has supposedly been plunged into doubt due to Lionel Messi's demands for the club to focus on youth development.

Rennes starlet Eduardo Camavinga has been tipped to complete a move to Liverpool as they prepare for life without Wijnaldum, who has made 43 appearances across all tournaments this season.
