Paris Saint-Germain reportedly table a whopping £8.6m-per-year offer to Georginio Wijnaldum as he prepares to snub Barcelona for the French giants.

Georginio Wijnaldum is reportedly set to take home a whopping £8.6m per year while on the books at Paris Saint-Germain.

The Netherlands international's time at Liverpool will come to an end this month, and he was persistently linked with a switch to Barcelona in the months leading up to his Anfield contract expiring.

Ronald Koeman's side were supposedly at the head of the queue for Wijnaldum's services, but the 30-year-old is now understood to be closing in on a switch to PSG.

According to De Telegraaf, Wijnaldum is set to agree to a three-year deal worth £8.6m per year at the Parc des Princes - a figure that cash-strapped Barcelona were not willing to match.

The report adds that some senior figures at Barcelona were not convinced by Wijnaldum's signing either, and the lure of working under Mauricio Pochettino was also a key factor in Wijnaldum's decision to join PSG.

Wijnaldum featured in all 38 Premier League matches during his farewell season with Liverpool, and he amassed a total of 22 goals and 16 assists in 237 appearances for the Merseyside giants.
