Lyon drop Emmanuel Adebayor interest

Lyon pull out of a move to sign free agent Emmanuel Adebayor after the experienced striker failed to report to France last week.

Lyon have pulled out of a move to sign free agent Emmanuel Adebayor after the experienced striker "delayed his trip" to France last week.

The 32-year-old is currently available on a free transfer after leaving Crystal Palace at the end of the 2015-16 season, and it had been thought that he would link up with the Ligue 1 outfit this month.

However, via a statement on their official website, Lyon have revealed that they are no longer interested in bringing the former Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City striker to the club.

"Olympique Lyonnais has decided not to pursue the discussions initiated with Emmanuel Adebayor who, since the beginning of the week, had delayed his trip to Lyon before coming yesterday to OL Park where Bruno Genesio was able to speak with him," read the statement.

Adebayor started his professional career with French side Metz before representing AS Monaco between 2003 and 2006, where he scored 26 times in 115 appearances.
