Raheem Sterling: 'I must accept Manchester City rotation'

Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling admits that he must accept the squad rotation policy of manager Manuel Pellegrini, after starting on the bench against Hull City.

Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling has admitted that he must accept the squad rotation policy of manager Manuel Pellegrini.

The 20-year-old has scored six goals in 20 appearances since joining the club from Liverpool in the summer, but the England international was named on the bench for his side's League Cup clash with Hull City last night.

Sterling was brought on by Pellegrini in the 62nd minute of his side's 4-1 win over the Tigers, and Sterling believes that the quality in City's squad can see the team compete in any game.

"The players in the squad are capable of starting in any game and if the manager puts them out there, I am sure they will do the business," Sterling told the Manchester Evening News.

"Obviously everyone wants to play every game but that cannot happen at this level, you have to get rotated at times and that is what happened.

"I was on the bench [against Hull] but when I come on the pitch, I have to try to contribute as much as I can for the team."

City - who are currently top of the Premier League - will take on Stoke City in their next fixture on Saturday.
