Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola has insisted that he wants Raheem Sterling to stay at the club for the long term.

Sterling has impressed in the early stages of the season, scoring 13 goals including a number of match-winning efforts, causing many observers to correlate the youngster's improving showings with the coaching of Guardiola.

"It's not my business right now, it's for Txiki [Begiristain]," the Spanish coach told the club's official website.

"I think I was clear like with club at the beginning of the season when Arsenal wanted him, and we said absolutely not.

"He's still young, hopefully we can make him happy and stay longer."
