Tony Pulis: 'West Bromwich Albion do not need to sell Jonny Evans'

West Bromwich Albion head coach Tony Pulis says that the Baggies do not need to sell Jonny Evans after confirming that an offer had been made for the defender.

West Bromwich Albion head coach Tony Pulis has claimed that it would take a "very, very good offer" for the club to consider selling defender Jonny Evans.

Earlier this week, it was reported that Manchester City had seen a bid rejected for the Northern Ireland international, who has previously represented their rivals Manchester United.

While Pulis stopped short of revealing that City had shown interest, the Baggies boss acknowledged that an approach had been made, but that the West Midlands outfit were not in a position where they had to consider the offer.

The 59-year-old told reporters: "Jonny is one of our best players. We don't want to sell him and don't need to. It would have to be a very, very good offer."

West Brom allegedly snubbed interest from Leicester City soon after the end of the last campaign, and they have since made Evans the captain of the club.

The 29-year-old has made 61 appearances in the Premier League since moving to The Hawthorns in 2015.
