Barcelona target Bernardo Silva is reportedly giving serious consideration to signing a new contract with Manchester City.

Bernardo Silva is reportedly giving serious consideration to signing a new deal with Manchester City, amid interest from Barcelona.

Silva has been linked with a move away from the Etihad Stadium for a number of years, having expressed a desire to move closer to his family in Portugal.

While there has been interest from Paris Saint-Germain and Al-Hilal, Silva has indicated that his preference is to join the Catalan giants.

A recent report claimed that Barcelona were set to step up their pursuit of Silva, with Ousmane Dembele closing in on a move to PSG.

However, according to The Times, Silva is seriously considering whether to sign a new contract with the Citizens.

The 28-year-old, who has two years left to run on his current deal, is leaning towards signing the deal put forward by Man City earlier in the year.

Having established himself as a key part of Pep Guardiola's side, Silva would receive a pay rise if he puts pen to paper on a new contract.

Silva has been waiting for Barcelona to formalise their interest, but they are yet to make an official offer for the Portugal international.

There are serious doubts as to whether the La Liga champions can afford to sign Silva due to the club's ongoing financial issues.

Since joining the club in 2017, Silva has scored 55 goals and provided 59 assists in 307 competitive appearances.

The attacker has helped Man City win multiple honours, including five Premier League titles, a Champions League crown, two FA Cups and four EFL Cups.

The Portuguese playmaker played the duration of Sunday's Community Shield with Arsenal, which Man City lost on penalties after the contest finished in a 1-1 draw.

Silva is expected to be involved once again when Man City kick off the defence of their Premier League title with an away game against newly-promoted Burnley on Friday.
