Tom Cleverley talks up Manchester United's Champions League chances

Manchester United midfielder Tom Cleverley feels that his team can challenge for the Champions League trophy.

Tom Cleverley has insisted that Manchester United are capable of going deep in this season's Champions League.

The Red Devils have struggled in the Premier League this season, but a victory tonight against Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk would secure top spot for them in Group A of Europe's biggest club tournament.

Many pundits have written off United's chances of challenging for the trophy, but midfielder Cleverley believes that his side have the ability to go "as far as we want".

"I think we can go as far as we want to in the Champions League. We were written off in Europe last year but we deserved to go through against Real Madrid, even [Jose Mourinho] said that," he told United Review.

United have already qualified for the knockout stages.
