Manchester United could be missing 13 players for Wednesday's Premier League clash with basement side Sheffield United.

Manchester United could potentially be without the services of as many as 13 players for Wednesday's Premier League clash with basement side Sheffield United.

The Red Devils booked their spot in the final of the FA Cup on Sunday afternoon courtesy of a penalty-shootout success over Championship outfit Coventry City.

Man United threw away a three-goal lead in the semi-final, with the contest eventually heading for penalties, and Erik ten Hag's side were 4-2 winners in the shootout to set up a final with Manchester City.

Both Marcus Rashford and Scott McTominay limped off at Wembley, and the pair have now emerged as major doubts for the team's next Premier League fixture with Sheffield United.

There will also be a concern over Harry Maguire, with the centre-back seemingly aggravating a groin problem during the clash with Coventry in the English capital.

Maguire was able to finish the 120 minutes of football, but he looked in discomfort during extra-time and will need to be assessed before his involvement against Sheffield United is decided.

Tyrell Malacia, Anthony Martial, Luke Shaw, Lisandro Martinez, Victor Lindelof, Jonny Evans and Raphael Varane will again definitely be absent for Man United on Wednesday night.

Meanwhile, Mason Mount, Sofyan Amrabat and Willy Kambwala were all missing for the 20-time English champions at Wembley due to fitness problems.

As a result, there is a chance that 13 players could be out when Man United take to the field for the clash against the team at the bottom of the Premier League table.

Who will play in central defence against Sheffield United?

At this stage, it is unclear whether Kambwala will be available, but if he is, and Maguire proves his fitness, then the duo will feature in the middle of the defence against Sheffield United.

Both could be out, though, which would give Ten Hag a huge problem in that area of the field.

Casemiro started well against Coventry but struggled as the match progressed, and it remains to be seen whether he is again used as a centre-back against Sheffield United.

Habeeb Ogunneye and Louis Jackson, who are both 18, are next in line to play in the middle of the defence, so the pair could make their first-team debuts next week.

Fellow youngsters Harry Amass, who is a left-back, and striker Ethan Wheatley will also hope to be involved after their spots in the squad against Coventry.
