David Luiz is not surprised that Nemanja Matic has become a key member of Manchester United's starting lineup since arriving from Chelsea in the summer.

Chelsea defender David Luiz has insisted that "it is normal" former teammate Nemanja Matic has settled so quickly at new club Manchester United.

The 29-year-old has been an ever-present for the Red Devils in the Premier League and Champions League since arriving in a £40m deal during the summer transfer window.

Luiz, who knows Matic well from their time together at Chelsea and Benfica, hopes that he can keep both the Serbian midfielder and another former teammate in Romelu Lukaku quiet at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon.

"Everyone can also say how well he did at Chelsea," he told the London Evening Standard. "He's a fantastic player. I've known him a long time since Benfica. He's a great player so it's normal for me [that he's done so well at United].

"Lukaku is also a fantastic player, and a great friend, but I hope he cannot score against us."

Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois suggested earlier this week that his side were 'powerless' to stand in the way of Matic's summer exit.
