Manchester United Jose Mourinho is issued with a one-game touchline ban and fined £50,000 by the Football Association for two charges.

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has been fined £50,000 and given a touchline ban by the Football Association for two charges.

The Portuguese coach admitted using abusive and/or insulting words towards a match official and accepted the standard penalty of a one-game ban, which will be served against Swansea City on Sunday.

Mourinho was sent to the stands by referee Mark Clattenburg for an incident "in or around the tunnel area during half time" of United's goalless draw against Burnley last weekend.

As well as the suspension, the standard penalty for this breach of FA Rule E3 also includes an £8,000 fine.

In a separate offence, Mourinho was handed the £50,000 fine for comments he made about referee Anthony Taylor ahead of the goalless draw against Liverpool last month.

Mourinho said of the official, who is based near Manchester: "Somebody with intention is putting such a pressure on him. I feel that it will be difficult for him to have a very good performance."

United currently sit eighth in the Premier League table, eight points adrift of the top three after 10 matches.
