Manchester United captain Harry Maguire is set to be named on the bench for Saturday's Premier League clash with Arsenal, according to a report.

Manchester United captain Harry Maguire will reportedly be named on the bench for Saturday's Premier League clash with Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

The England international has largely struggled for form during the 2021-22 campaign but has still been a key player for the Red Devils, making 35 appearances in all competitions.

Maguire again found it difficult against Liverpool in the Premier League on Tuesday, with Ralf Rangnick's side on the end of a 4-0 defeat, and he was then reportedly the victim of a bomb threat.

An investigation was subsequently launched by Cheshire Police, but the defender is allegedly still determined to travel with the squad to London.

According to The Athletic, Rangnick has made the decision to take Maguire out of the starting side for the clash with Arsenal, which is key to Man United's top-four hopes.

The report claims that the 29-year-old will be rested 'on compassionate terms', so the returning Raphael Varane could play alongside Victor Lindelof in the middle of the defence.

Man United are currently sixth in the Premier League table, three points behind fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur, who have a game in hand.
