Arsenal are reportedly considering an approach for Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata, who has less than six months remaining on his contract.

Arsenal have reportedly identified Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata as a potential signing.

Mata has spent the last seven-and-a-half years in English football with Chelsea and United, but the Spaniard is currently due to be out of contract at the end of the season.

A number of Spanish clubs are likely to be keen on signing the playmaker on a free transfer, but according to The Mirror, Arsenal are ready to try to keep the 30-year-old in the Premier League.

The report claims that bringing in an experienced and proven player on a free transfer could appeal to the Gunners, whose squad is expected to undergo further changes in the summer.

Mata has also previously worked with manager Unai Emery at Valencia and may welcome the opportunity of a reunion with his former boss.
