Rafael Benitez refuses to discuss David de Gea

Rafael Benitez refuses to talk about the rumour that Real Madrid are close to signing Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea.

New Real Madrid head coach Rafael Benitez has opted against discussing speculation that has linked the club with a move for Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea.

The 24-year-old has been strongly linked with a switch to the Bernabeu over recent months, with one report yesterday having claimed that he had decided to return to his native Spain.

However, when asked about the situation during his unveiling press conference earlier today, Benitez refused to give anything away.

"I like the way you have tried to sneak that question under the radar but we will evaluate everything in time. We will not name names today," he told reporters.

De Gea joined the Red Devils from Real's city rivals Atletico Madrid in 2011.
