David de Gea to be priced out of new Manchester United deal?

A report claims that Manchester United have been unable to make a breakthrough in contract talks with David de Gea, despite offering him £350,000 a week.

Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea is reportedly in danger of being priced out of a contract extension at Old Trafford.

The 28-year-old has been locked in negotiations with the Red Devils for a number of months over extending his deal beyond the end of next season.

United triggered a 12-month extension in De Gea's contract in November, but as things stand the £100m-rated stopper will become a free agent in a less than a year-and-a-half's time.

Recent speculation suggested that the Premier League giants were close to reaching an agreement with the Spain international, but the Evening Standard reports that a breakthrough in talks has not yet been reached.

De Gea has supposedly been offered £350,000 a week to stay on, making him the best-paid keeper in the world, though that has not been enough to reach an agreement with the player's representatives, raising fresh doubts over his future.

If an agreement cannot be reached before the summer, United may be forced to cash in to the highest bidder.
