Liverpool identify Leicester City's Youri Tielemans as an ideal replacement for the outgoing Georginio Wijnaldum, according to a report.

Liverpool are reportedly preparing to move for Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans ahead of Georginio Wijnaldum's departure.

Wijnaldum has confirmed that he will be on his way out of the club when his deal expires next month, and the Dutchman is thought to have agreed a three-year deal with Barcelona.

With Jurgen Klopp expected to prioritise a replacement for his ever-present lynchpin this summer, the likes of Eduardo Camavinga, Renato Sanches and Rodrigo de Paul have been linked with moves to Anfield.

Now, Belgian outlet Het Nieuwsblad claims that Leicester's Tielemans has emerged as a potential target, with the former Monaco man out of contract in 2023.

However, Leicester's Player of the Year is also thought to be on the radar of Manchester United and Barcelona, and the Foxes - despite missing out on Champions League football once again - would not sanction an exit on the cheap.

Tielemans scored nine goals and assisted six more in all competitions during the 2020-21 season, including a stunning winner in the FA Cup final against Chelsea.
